K9 Defense Fund began with a simple goal: raise enough to buy a ballistic vest for a single local police dog. That turned into three… then six. K9 Raiden, Knox, Ace, Fuze, Asher, and one more local K9 now have the protection they need, thanks to the incredible support from our community. I’ll never forget the moment I called those handlers and told them their partners were finally getting vests...

This mission is personal. It’s rooted in service—and in family. My grandfather, Phillip Kelly, dedicated 42 years of service with the Lansing Police Department, badge #142. K9 Defense Fund is, in part, a tribute to him—and to every officer, two- or four-legged, who puts their life on the line.

Today, we work to make sure no K9 goes without the essential gear they need. From custom-fit ballistic vests to essential training equipment, we help fill the gaps where budgets fall short. Because these dogs would give everything to protect us—and they deserve nothing less in return.
